If you are serious about rowing to improve your fitness then a good quality rowing / erg machine is essential to help you get there. Price is obviously the top of the list for most people. All I will say is that you get what you pay for with a rowing / erg machine. The best machines do tend to cost a little more. I would only recommend buying one that has good feedback or is a well know winner like the concept 2 rower.

It is in gyms throughout the world and is widely recognised as the best there is for competition and to improve fitness. The rower is improved each year by Concept 2 and is now capable of allowing you to race against others online, or to place your times in world rankings online. A superb piece of kit which I also own and fully recommend.
* The Schwinn Rowing Machine – This is a good rower with a long warranty and good ergonomics, the only problem is that in this price range, that’s not enough of a reason to buy one. Another option is the Kettler Coach (if you want magnetic resistance), or perhaps checkout the Bodycraft vr100 that’s a similar rowing machine, but will cost you around $500 less.
* The Water Rower. – Again a superb piece of kit which when used sounds as if you are actually rowing on water. The water rower also fold up into a compact space so that it is out of the way when not in use. It can there for be used in almost any room. It also looks so good that it could quite easily be left in your living room near your tv without looking out of place – Definitely recommended.

Places to look for a Rowing / Erg Machine – The best places to look are Amazon who have brand new rowing machines. They also have a points system which gives credit where it is due to machines which have been bought by customers. You will be able to see quite clearly what customers think of their experience in buying their machine. Amazon also have offers and price reductions on lots of products, and allow users to sell products 2nd hand, so bargains can be found. With Amazon you don’t have to worry about being outbid, and you can also find what you are looking for and buy it at the same time.
eBay is also another good place to buy. You may well be outbid and you could end up paying more than you actually wanted too. many catalogues sell rowing machines along with places like wallmart and argos. Be careful in your choice from these companies. They are normally sub standard products that no one wants when you decide to sell it. Hence lots of old rowing machines tucked in the back of garages.
